Interac e-transfers

My credit union makes sending money to my family fast, easy with Interac® e-Transfers

Introducing Interac e-Transfer® Enhanced User Features
Interac has enhanced the existing e-Transfer service with two new features; Autodeposit and Request Money. These new features are being implemented everywhere that offers the e-Transfer service to make it easier to transfer funds.

Receive money directly into your account with Autodeposit
The Autodeposit feature allows you to have money sent via Interac e-Transfer automatically deposited directly into your bank account, without having to answer a security question. The Autodeposit feature continues to provide the value of Interac e-Transfer, without the need to share financial information.

For senders, there is added convenience of not needing to convey security answers while continuing to have the security of knowing who is receiving the funds, prior to sending.

Set-up is simple:
  1. Log in to your online or mobile banking and navigate to Autodeposit, found in the Interac e-Transfer section.
  2. Register your e-mail address and link your account. Any transfers to the registered email address will be automatically deposited into the account.
  3. You will receive an email to confirm your registration. Check your inbox and click "Complete Registration".

Get paid easily with Request Money
Easily request money you are owed with the Interac e-Transfer Request Money feature. When you send a request for money, the recipient is notified instantly and can accept the request. If accepted, the requested amount will be automatically deposited into your account and you will be notified when funds are available.

  1. Log in to your online banking or mobile banking and navigate to Interac e-Transfer Request Money.
  2. Add or select a contact and fill out the name and e-mail address or mobile phone number of the person you wish to send the request to.
  3. Type in the specified amount you are requesting and select the account you would like the funds to be deposited into. You can also include a personalized message with the request.
  4. Once the recipient has fulfilled your request, funds will immediately be deposited into your bank account and you will be notified immediately

Ways To Use

With Interac® e-Transfers you can:

  • Send money to children at college
  • Send gifts to friends or family
  • Pay your rent electronically
  • Pay for items purchased online or at garage sales
  • Settle a bill with a friend
  • And much, much more...the possibilities are endless.

Benefits

  • Send and receive money directly from and to your existing bank account
  • There's no need to share personal or financial information, allowing you to keep your address, phone number and account information private
  • A security question protects your transfer from being deposited by unintended recipients
  • Email carries the notification, so no need to get stamps or to find a mailbox

Better than cheques or cash, faster than going to an ATM.

Rest assured you are not actually sending money by email or text message; only the notification travels over the Internet to advise the recipient that the transfer has been initiated and to provide instructions on how to deposit the money. The money always resides safely at the financial institution, and is transferred through existing payment networks that financial institutions have used for years to settle cheques, bank machine deposits and withdrawals.

For added security and peace of mind, additional measures built into the system include:

  • Encryption technology
  • Confidential user IDs and passwords issued by financial institutions
  • Secure login process
  • A security question to ensure only the intended recipient accepts the transfer

The added benefit of never disclosing any of your personal financial information off the face of a cheque makes e-Transfers a far more secure choice of payment.
